Millrose Games Lineups Will Be Shaped By Wednesday's Millrose Trials By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor John Nepolitan Photos Wednesday's meet at The Armory will provide loads of Millrose Games qualifying opportunities to relay squads and individual athletes on the track and in a couple of field events during a five-hour session beginning at 5 p.m. Eastern. WATCH THE MILLROSE TRIALS LIVE ON RUNNERSPACE (+PLUS required) The Millrose high school mile fields are slowly filling up and will add more names at the Trials. In the girls race, University of Colorado commit Emma Zawatski of Freehold Township NJ will try to earn her spot when she races Ella Cohen of Hunter College NY and Sophia McInnes of Bayport Blue-Point NY. Cohen won the mile at the U.S. Marine Corps Holiday Classic (4:51.38). Keegan Smith of Knoxville Catholic is making his way up from Tennessee to take a shot at making the field and brings with him 4:11.90 mile PR credentials from last spring. Soheib Dissa from Newtown CT, a Foot Locker finalist with a 1,600 meters PR of 4:10.07, and Logan Schaeffler of Sanford H Calhoun NY (US#6 4:16.36 1,600m) are also trying to earn a spot in the prestigious Millrose Games race. The fields in the 55-meter dashes will also take shape. U.S. leader Ajani Dwyer of Washington Township NJ (6.33) will race Malachi James of Burlington NJ (US#4 6.36) and Graham Houghton of Pingry NJ (US#8 6.40). Ashley Fulton of Elmont Memorial NY, US#9 with 7.03, will be matched up with reigning New York state champion Sariah Doresca of Baldwin, who owns a PR of 7.02. Ryan Jennings of Timber Creek NJ comes in ranked US#10 with 7.04. In the boys weight throw, Aidan Ifkovits from New Paltz leads the entries at US#2 68-8.50. Gabriella Vizcarrondo from Nanuet NY is the top female thrower at US#3 (51-5.50). Newburgh NY, US#1 in the 4x400 (3:21.40), will try to shave more time off its season's best on Wednesday and could be pushed by Freeport NY, US#7 (3:25.70). Hunter College NY's boys and girls, both already US#1 in the DMR, is entered in the 4x800. Union Catholic NJ (US#8) and Winslow Township (US#10) will go head to head in the girls 4x400 relay. |
