The boys mile brought another highlight Wednesday at The Armory, with three runners crashing to the finish line within a tenth of a second.

Soheib Dissa from Newtown CT seemed out of contention in fourth place with a lap to go but stormed around the final curve to catch Luke Schagelin of Morris Knolls NJ and Keegan Smith of Knoxville Catholic TN in the final stride at the Millrose Trials.

It was Dissa running 4:13.83 for a US#2, with Smith right there at US#3 4:13.86 and Schagelin third in US#4 4:13.92.

Dissa and Smith were awarded Millrose Games spots.

Hunter College High School, located on Park Avenue on New York's Upper East Side, has long had a reputation for being an elite academic institution.

Junior teammates Ella Cohen and Dylan McElhinney both ran 4:50 in the mile with the Nos. 3 and 4 times in the country so far this season, raising the profile of the school's athletics.

Both Cohen (4:50.26) and McElhinney (4:50.37) qualified for the Millrose Games high school girls mile with their 1-2 finish at The Armory in the Millrose Trials.

Cohen qualified for Nike Cross Nationals less than two months ago. McElhinney competed independently of her high school during cross country season and made it to the Foot Locker Championships.

Emma Zawatski, a senior from Freehold Township NJ, was third in US#5 4:52.54.

There were also fireworks on the straightaway. Ajani Dyer of Washington Township blasted a US#1 6.18 seconds in the 55-meter dash. That's a New Jersey state record and the second-fastest ever at The Armory.

Kiera Davis from Hillcrest NY also ran a US#1 with 6.91 in the girls dash final.

Tappan Zee NY ran a US#1 time of 9:23.30 to win the 4x800 relay, beating Hunter College's 9:34.53.

In the final race of the meet, the Union Catholic NJ girls ran a US#1 3:53.07 despite a dropped baton on an exchange. The race produced the top three times in the country as Timber Creek NJ ran 3:53.66 and Winslow Township NJ went 3:56.86.

Toms River North NJ was the fastest team in all of the boys 4x400 sections with a US#1 time of 3:20.14.

Aidan Ifkovits from New Paltz NY won the boys weight throw with 66-1. The top three in the competition qualified for Millrose and Ifkovits will be joined by Daniel Ye of Horace Greeley (63-4.25) and Iona Prep NY's Eric Mulqueen (60-6.50).

National leader Gabriella Vizcarrondo of Nanuet NY won the girls weight throw with 50-4.25. Meagan Ewers from Medgar Evers NY (47-1.50) and Nattaly Lindo of Valley Stream North NY (45-5) also booked spots at Millrose.

Jacob Park of Half Hollow Hills West won the boys pole vault with 14-1.
